Embedded Systems Developer

An innovative commercial product development company in Berkeley, CA is looking for a professional Embedded Systems Engineer to execute complete embedded systems lifecycle from concept through development and manufacturing release.

• Specify processor and controller hardware to control a free standing electromechanical system with air blowers, heaters, valves, mechanical actuators, thermal sensors, humidity sensors and pressure sensors
• System will be used in a food/beverage retail environment (indoor)
• System will have Wifi connectivity (for “internet of things” and control from an iOS tablet – app is not in scope) and Bluetooth for provisioning
• Design and develop embedded system from requirements to production and commercial deployment
• Design, develop, code, test and debug system software
• Review code and design
• Analyze and enhance efficiency, stability and scalability of system resources
• Integrate and validate developed systems.
• Support software QA and optimize I/O performance
• Provide post production support
• Interface with hardware design and development
• Assess third party and open source software

• Proven working experience in software engineering
• BS degree in relevant Engineering discipline (EE preferred)
• Experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting on embedded targets
• Solid programming experience in C or C++
• Proven experience in embedded systems design in high complexity systems.
• Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review
• Excellent knowledge of OS coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces and hardware subsystems
• Ability to read schematics and data sheets for components
• Ability to develop schematics for system wiring and connection to off the shelf controllers, interface boards, and power supplies
• Opportunity for flexible work place – perform some tasks from home office, and some co located with the hardware development team

• Working remotely on the team will depend on ability to travel for implementation, troubleshooting, updates and ongoing support
• Pay is upper end of market, DOE
