Denver is known for many things but is perhaps most famous for its microbreweries, and rightfully so. Beer lovers love it here, as the breweries in Denver rank highly in both quantity and quality of beer brewed across countless sites.

Everyone has their favorites but according to BeerAdvocate.com, these are the top 6 best breweries in Denver based on the average customer review across all beers the brewery produces.

Crooked Stave – 3350 Brighton Blvd

Life is good when your work is beer.... as demonstrated by Chad Yakobson owner/brewer of Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project with his barrels of beer on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at his NW Denver headquarters and tasting room. He was holding a golden sour beer that is still aging in the former whiskey barrels. The Barrel Cellar tasting room has just opened at the 1441 W. 46th Ave, Unit 19 location. Highest-rated beer – WWB Batch #50

Crooked Stave offers a selection of the most incredible sour beers you’re likely to find outside of Belgium itself. Its taproom is located at The Source, one of the hippest spots in all of Denver, with a number of exceptional restaurants and shops.

Comrade – 7667 E Iliff Ave #F, Denver

Comrade

Highest-rated beer – Hop Chops (IIPA)

Even if you overlook their amazing beers, Comrade is incredible because it’s one of only a handful of breweries with equipment that was all made in the US. Their large taproom features a regular rotation of Denver’s best food trucks, making it a great place to spend an afternoon.

TRVE – 227 Broadway #101

trve

Highest-rated beer - CVLT MMXIV-III

TRVE is a heavy metal brewery. Why heavy metal? A better question might be, why not? TRVE’s taproom’s ambience is totally unique and makes it a must-visit for those that like their brews with a heaping side order of black metal tuneage.

Wit’s End - 2505 W 2nd Ave Unit 13, Denver

wits end

Highest-rated beer – Ambition Stout

Likely the smallest brewery on the list, Wit’s End has taken an artisanal approach to its beers. Back in 2013, they had a 1-barell system that brewed just 31 gallons at a time. They’ve since grown, offering more people the opportunity to try their exceptional brews, from the Jean-Claude Van Blond to the Kitchen Sink Porter.

Great Divide – 2201 Arapahoe Street

great divide

Highest-rated beer - 3x Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout

It should be no surprise to find Great Divide on this list. Its already-enormous-yet-still-growing popularity is a sign that they’re doing everything right. The taproom on Arapahoe St is intimate but fun and often has a food truck serving up great eats during busy hours.

River North – 2401 Black St Ste 1

river north

Highest-rated beer - Whiskey Barrel Quandry – 2015

If you like Belgian yeast, you’ll be glad we made this the top 6 breweries in Denver rather than the top 5. River North is named after the up-and-coming neighborhood it calls home, where it consistently puts out some of the best damn ale you can put in your mouth.
