Ranked #11 on the Inc. Denver’s 25 Fastest-Growing Companies list for 2025, ServiceCore is on a mission to help hardworking operators in the portable sanitation and dumpster industries get more done and grow their businesses with ease.

In need of a strategic hiring partnership to keep up with growth, ServiceCore (along with newly acquired partner, Docket), worked with BWBacon Group to accelerate engineering hires starting late last year.

Through the combined efforts of the ServiceCore and BWBacon teams, we set out to expand their capabilities with a thoughtful blueprint and ambitious future headcount. Since then, together, we’ve more than doubled the size of their engineering team.

ServiceCore

Double the Business, Double the Teams

BWB Blog Post - ServiceCore Case Study 3When undertaking a new scope, we often dig into the need or the purpose; what's driving these hires? Backing up a bit to 2023, ServiceCore acquired Docket, a roll-off and dumpster management software company based in Ohio to expand their capabilities in the roll-off sector. With the goal of giving customers a more comprehensive solution that covers portable sanitation, septic, and waste hauling, the acquisition effectively doubled their business and opportunities for market expansion overnight.

By bringing Docket’s technology and team into the fold, ServiceCore strengthened its position as a leading provider of technology solutions to an underserved industry, as well as instantly increased its need for new talent to start building new features and system integrations.

In order to support both the ServiceCore and Docket teams with their talent needs, BWBacon Group worked hand-in-hand with decision makers and team leaders to scale using the efficiency-driven 'pod method.'

Pod-itioned for Success

Focusing on hiring complete, cross-functional engineering 'pods' at one time to serve a specific roadmap initiative or aspect of the business, the pod method is a rising approach for our clients looking to scale quickly and effectively.

Scaling quickly doesn’t mean without purpose, though, and this was especially apparent for the ServiceCore team. Scaling with purpose would require a workforce strategy that matched both the roadmap and the speed of product growth, making the pod method a clear approach for our delivery. Instead of filling roles one-by-one here and there, our recruiting efforts encompassed front-end, back-end, QA, data, design, product, and leadership talent for roles across many pods.

This approach ensured that new hires could hit the ground running together, with balanced skills and clear ownership. Without sacrificing quality, the BWB team moved quickly to source strong talent that had the right mix of technical and interpersonal skills. We distilled from hiring managers that the right people could embrace challenges, get excited about their 'playground for cutting edge tech,' and show a high level of engagement about their culture and the opportunity.

With driven technical leaders at the helm, we honed in on the talent they were looking for, building out cohesive units positioned to drive momentum starting day one.

‘Give a Sh*t’ About Hiring

BWB Blog Post - ServiceCore Case Study 8As a testament to their values, ‘Love Our Customers, Be Real, Give a Shit, Deliver Results, Keep it Fun,’ all of the hiring managers we worked with emphasized the importance of finding a great culture fit for each and every search.

To them, this meant candidates who could demonstrate their drive to take initiative, their willingness to step outside their comfort zones, and their ability to bring a collaborative, good-natured attitude.

In turn, ServiceCore provides incoming engineers with an amazing opportunity to work for a company that is 'growing by leaps and bounds' in an industry that is also growing rapidly. As the codebase in its early stages, this presents both a challenge and opportunity to closely participate in the ‘front lines’ of growing a successful software company with the support of a top-notch team.

The dedication and effort put forth by both teams is what ultimately led to successfully placing 14 people across engineering, product, data, and design.

Both parties equally ‘gave a shit,’ continually working on process, feedback loops, and qualifications to hire engineers that would find long-term happiness and success working at ServiceCore.

From Teamwork to Talent to Traction

Sourcing engineers across 7 net-new pods, our adaptability to different hiring manager styles and henceforth ability to deliver candidates that checked all the boxes for their most crucial qualifications strengthened our relationship with the ServiceCore team.

ServiceCore COO & CFO Michael Boord reflects on the partnership, "since our first major partnership in 2023, the BWBacon team has been our go-to partner for hiring technical talent across a range of functions." Emphasizing the success of our recruiting approach to operate as an extension of our clients' teams and brand, Boord adds,

Given how deep they go in understanding our company culture and technical needs, they have helped us move extremely fast and find great talent. We frankly wouldn't have been able to achieve our strategic goals as quickly or as fully in 2025 without this partnership."

Today, on the heels of immense team growth, ServiceCore and Docket are better equipped to tackle growth, innovation, and reap the rewards of their success moving into 2026 and beyond.

The Impact

With BWB-powered talent now fueling pods like Team Docketship, Team Dragon, Team Bulbasaur, and Team Yoshi (to name a few), ServiceCore and Docket have been able to:

    • Accelerate feature delivery and product innovation

    • Balance pods with the right mix of engineers and leadership support

    • Launch new initiatives without slowing down existing ones

    • Strengthen collaboration by onboarding groups that were designed to work together

The result? A more scalable workforce, faster time-to-impact, and teams that are ready for the next phase of growth.

Looking Ahead

Despite being one of the fastest-growing software companies in Colorado since its founding in 2017, ServiceCore's strong culture and primary focus to offer a unified, high-performing SaaS platform have not wavered. Every conversation from the reasons for growth to the type of engineers they were seeking demonstrated that their team is driven by a shared sense of purpose, delivering real value to real people.

For us, helping a team so passionate about what they are building made successful placements even more rewarding as the fabric of their company continues to expand. Our work with ServiceCore and Docket is a reminder of what recruiting partnerships can achieve when they go beyond transactions.

By staying flexible and leaning into a shared vision, we’re proud that our collaboration is helping to build the future of companies like ServiceCore. If the last year is any indication, the best is still ahead.
